Largo glanced around , his paws touching the sand and leaving imprints of his paw pads. His eyes scanned quickly to make sure the undead horde wasn't following him. They were always after him, those evil little zombies, they were coming to eat his flesh and brains. The tide washed over the shore and onto his paws, and he jumped backwards, startled.
“The evil! Stay back, zombies!” he yelled at the water, then ran over and jumped on top of a rock. He “hid” behind the rock and watched the ocean go in and out for a while, repeating the same motion over and over, and he realized after a moment it wasn't under the power of evil. Sighing in relief, he slipped down off the rock and continued down the stretch of sand. For now, all he could smell was the salty sea air that licked at his nose.
It was sunset, a time when he normally wouldn't be out. But he had gotten lost after wandering aimlessly around to figure out where Forest Pack was again. It was just like Largo to forget where he was going. So he was stuck out here, jumping at every little thing and thinking it was some sort of zombie. The last thing that he needed to find was another wolf, but he paused at a sound. It sounded like more paws in the sand.
Spinning around, he called out, “Who goes there?” His claws were digging into the sand as if his life depended on it, and he knew he probably looked like he was about to have a heart attack. One day, he would have to figure out a way to make traps for these evil undead monsters. Then, he would be able to protect the pack from the horde! If they didn't get caught in the traps instead, that was.

Somomo lifted her head. She was in some sort of grassland...well, that wasn't right. She was looking for tthe Sun Pack lands, but had ended up...here. What a sense of direction. Was this the Neutral pack lands? No, but it wasn't Sun pack, either. Whoops~! She wandered along, following the general direction of the sun's path across the sky. It had never led her astray before, after all! Unless, you know..it did.
By the time she stopped, Somomo figured that she was about halfway to the Sun Pack lands. The late afternoon sun was hot- imagine that, right?- and she wanted to cool off, so she hopped on over to the conveniently placed ocean. Yeah, hopped. Got a problem with that? Huh, punk?!
Anyway, punk, HOPPING over to the beach, Somomo heard something rather odd. Yes, it was Largo rambling. And, gullible as she was, she believed it. The evil! It was coming! How terri--hey, what's a zombie-thing, anyway? She popped out of a clump of beachgrass, shaking sand from her fur as she did so. "Hey, what's a zom-bee, anyway? This was gonna be a looong day.

At first Largo felt like he was going to have a heart attack. It took a moment before he realized she had no idea what a zombie was, and therefore could not be one. She was different than the zombies, anyway. She must have been one of those kind of good conscience things that sit on your shoulder, only life-sized. Wow, this might actually be his lucky day. When was the last time he ran into a nice wolf? Not since he got lost, at least. He really needed to get to Forest Pack and see if there was an alpha yet.
Straighting himself so he wouldn't fall over from his earlier shock, he replied, “A zombie is a creature who has risen from the dead—like the dark wolves. They are zombies. You have to watch out for them.” He gave a nod of his head, then opened his eyes to examine her. She was rather different, and he had never seen a wolf with spots like that. It was weird, but she seemed sort of crazy... like him. She just happened to also know how to scare the living daylights out of him. Or was it supposed to be nightlights, since it was night? Oh well, he didn't care. It had nothing to do with zombies, and so it was of no true importance to talk about.
“So...” Largo sat down and just stared at her a moment. After talking about zombies, he was horrible at conversations. Hey tried to think of a normal way of conversing with a wolf. He couldn't remember anything but asking names, though, and so went with it. “What's your name? I'm Largo, a neutral wolf.” Hopefully she would help him fill in the rest, so he wouldn't have to keep coming up with stuff to save his ass.

Staring at this strange, strage wolf, it occured to Somomo that he might've thought that she was one of those...zumbeez? Wait a minute. They were dark wolves? Dark wolves were undead?! That couldn't be right..Right? Her brain hurt. So old what's his face, the wolf from the Moon pack- Jelly? no. Jeel...Jealcik!- was undead? That was impossible- he would've smelled a whole lot worse if he'd died. But, Somomo didn't say anything, because Largo was crazy enough already without her confusing him more.
"I'm Somomo, a light wolf," she said upon remembering that he'd asked. "Speaking of which, would you happen to know there the Sun pack lands are? I think I got a bit spun around." She turned around in place, shaking still more sand from her pelt for added effect. To top off her confusion, the sun had just about set. Now it would be impossible to tell east from west, except for those who already know where they are. While we're at it, maybe Malt will stop quotingn POTC sometime in the near future. Doesn't seem very lkely, though. Oh well!

Largo looked at the mountains that were nearby, remembering, at last, that he had once had to cross mountains to get to Forest Pack. It was a miracle day, Largo actually remembered something in the past besides zombies. Turning to her, he tried to think where Sun Pack might be. He knew that the light packlands were north, and if he wasn't mistaken they were in the south. Looking at the position of the sun, he tried to figure it out. They were, indeed, south.
“I believe if you go over those mountains and past some lands you'll end up in Sun Pack. But be careful. Zombies lurk past Forest Pack. They might try to eat your brains... or worse! They might force breed you and eat your brains!” he exclaimed, a look of horror on his face as he imagined it. They had killed his mother, but he didn't know if they did anything else. He just knew of the many rumors that went around about them.
One of them he heard was that they force bred a wolf and made her stay in the pack until she gave birth, then they killed her and kept the pups so they'd grow up to be zombies. It was horrible, and he felt himself start hyperventilating over his thoughts. It didn't help when he remembered that they had also torn out a wolf's eyes before. No, all that did was make it worse. This was most likely why he wasn't a light: Largo was practically useless. All he normally did was freak out and tell other wolves when danger was coming, then try to somehow construct traps. They were a bit obvious unless you weren't looking, though. With someone like Largo, you have to be prepared to live a life of zombie talk.

If Somomo knew exactly how momentous it was, she would've celebrated the fact that Largo was being smart for once. It's too bad she had no idea then, because everyone loves a good party. But going over the mountains would take at least a day or two. And although Somomo wasn't particularly afraid of Dark wolves, as everyone these days- especially Largo- seemd to be, she didn't particularly want to take the risk of walking right outside their borders after dark, when they were most active. And she would probably walk into a tree or something. It would absolutely humiliating to be found stumbling through the Moon pack lands half-blind because she'd poked her eye out on a pine needle.
Coming to a decision, she plopped herself down on to the ground, flicking an ear in annoyance. "In that case, it appears that I'll be staying the night here." Suddenly bored, and wanting to avoid an awkward silence, she asked Largo, "How do you know so much about these zumbiez, anyway?" Little did she know how big a can of worms she was opening. This was going to be a very long night.

Largo knew very well what could happen if Somomo had happened to go on and try to get over the mountains by night. If any zombies were lurking, then she would be in trouble. And after what they had done to... no, no he shouldn't think about that. All it would do would be stir up old, tattered memories he so desperately wished would fade. Though, for as long as he had a memory, they wouldn't.
“Would you like me to stay with you? Zombies are tricky. You never know when they're going to sneak up on you,” he said, glancing around. Even though he doubted any of them would have come this far into the neutral lands, no one ever knew what would happen with those darn wolves. They were sort of like bloodsucking leeches. They always wanted to follow the neutrals and lights around so they could get at them.
And then she asked that question. The one that most people were too afraid to ask. It was like opening a wound and then pouring salt onto it, only this burning was harder to ease. Frowning, he lowered himself down onto the ground and placed his head on top of his paws before he began the tale...
“When I was a pup, dark wolves came to the lands we were staying in. I can't remember exactly where it was. They attacked my mother and took us both with them. I had to watch while they force bred her, snickering the whole time. After she gave birth, she was killed, and while they were busy with that I escaped. I knew I wouldn't have been able to do anything. I was only a pup. But still,” he murmured, then a growl rose in his throat, “those zombies need to be taught a lesson.”
